urban geography

A level Sun Jan 27 - Thurs Feb 01 2008

The 5th year of this popular intensive 3 night study tour looking at immigration and settlement patterns in the historical development of New York. Groups also partake in environmental assessments of a number of diverse neighbourhoods including Greenwich Village, the Upper East Side and Harlem.

We also look at how the events of 9/11 have impacted on the city and the development plans for 'Ground Zero'. Instead of a 'classroom' Seminar, geographers will undertake an extended and guided sightseeing tour by coach to include a number of short walking tours to assess environment issues in the City's ethnic neighbourhood.

Your stay will also include a FREE visit to:
  • The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Museum of Immigration
Optional Visits:
  • The East Side Tenement Museum
  • The Museum of New York City
  • Ground Zero
  • The NYFD Ground Zero Museum
